Mark Limbrick
About The Artist
Mark Limbrick's exhibition 'Firing Cycles' was at The Cut in January/February, 2004.
‘Firing Cycles’ combined a scanning video projection of the derelict upper floor of the former maltings building with photographs using a helical-scan time lapse technique.
Activities involving a hand-cranked wheel, ladders and fire were recorded on a single piece of film during a sequence lasting several minutes.
Images of disembodied hands, feet, arms, sacks of barley and parts of faces narrated a modern ghost story.
The sound from the roof space of wind, dripping water and flapping tar paper was transmitted to the gallery space, where radio receivers built into each of four speaker horns cast the sound into the space.
